After a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on January 15, Swiss Federal Council President Viola Amgerd confirmed the country's intention to organize a peace conference on Ukraine at the highest level.
She said this at a joint press conference, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.
According to Amgerd, the issue of implementing Kyiv's peace initiatives was one of the main issues during her meeting with the Ukrainian president.
"Mr. Zelensky asked me if Switzerland would be ready to organize a meeting at the highest level. I confirmed it: Switzerland would be ready to organize a conference. We agreed that we will deal with this issue in depth to make the peace process successful," she added.
The Swiss President said that representatives of both countries would immediately begin preparations for the peace conference, and "on our side, we have already appointed a person to take care of this."
"Switzerland will always support a lasting peace. And we are glad that Switzerland can contribute to this," she emphasized.
