U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and top U.S. Army Commander Mark Milley noted that the allies discussed ways to strengthen Ukraine's air defense as quickly as possible and create a multi-level system of defense against threats from the air.
As European Pravda reports, they said this at a briefing after the meeting.
General Mark Milley noted that to fully protect the skies Ukraine needs to create an integrated system of different types of weapons designed to intercept threats at different ranges and altitudes.
"A lot of countries have a lot of different systems here today. The challenge will be to bring it all together, to make it possible to deploy these systems, to train because each one is different, to ensure that they communicate with command centers, with radars... That's achievable, and that's what we're aiming for," he noted.
Asked about the timeline, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said the systems would be made available "as quickly as we can physically do it."
