The United States will send Ukraine ammunition for HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, artillery shells, and anti-tank weapons as part of the next military aid package.

"We will announce a new tranche of security assistance to Ukraine. The aid package will include more ammunition for the HIMARS provided by the United States, as well as more shells for howitzers, artillery, mortars, and anti-tank weapons," she said.

The Pentagon issued a press release announcing that Ukraine is receiving $300 million worth of weapons and equipment.

The new military aid package includes:

Additional ammunition for the Highly Mobile Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS);

  • 155-mm howitzers;
  • 155-mm artillery shells;
  • 120-mm, 81-mm, and 60-mm mortar shells;

  • small arms and ammunition for them;

As a reminder, the previous tranche of military aid to Kyiv was announced on April 19. By then, the total value of such assistance had reached approximately $36 billion.

At the same time, US Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Colin Kahl said that there are three main priorities for defense assistance to Ukraine

According to him, Ukraine still needs air defense equipment. The Ukrainian army also needs artillery and armored vehicles.

"Their top three priorities are our top three priorities: air defense, artillery, mechanized and armored forces, and everything that is needed to service and support those vehicles," the Pentagon deputy chief said.
