Currently, 51,000 Ukrainian IDPs are registered in Austria and receive social assistance from the state.
According to an Ukrinform correspondent, this was announced at a press conference in Vienna by Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner.
"We have registered almost 100 thousand refugees from the war in Ukraine. At the moment, 51 thousand people from Ukraine, primarily women, and children, are receiving the so-called "basic support," he said.
According to the minister, to ensure that the asylum system continues to work reliably, the agency is fighting various cases of abuse of the right to asylum. Thus, in the first four months of this year, 3,808 people were expelled from Austria, including 1,863 forcibly. About 45% of all forced extraditions are people with criminal records.
