There will be no electricity for weeks - Head of Kyiv Regional Council

Nov 2, 2022

The head of the Kyiv regional military administration Oleksiy Kuleba said in an interview with Hromadske that he does not rule out a complete shutdown of electricity and heating in the event of further hits of the Russian army on energy infrastructure, UNN reports.

"After October 10, the situation seriously changed, the Russian army began to deliberately destroy our energy infrastructure, which is critical. We understand that the Kyiv region is again becoming an outpost of Kyiv. They are striking here directly to ensure that there is no light in Kyiv itself," said the head of the OVA.

According to Kuleba, Russia is currently creating a humanitarian crisis, the likes of which the world has not seen in 70 years. The head of the military administration emphasizes that it is necessary to prepare for any development of events, including the most difficult.

"People must also prepare and understand that they must have food and water supplies. Mobile phones should be charged," - he said.

When asked whether there could be a complete power outage, Kuleba replied:

"Yes, if the rocket attacks on our energy infrastructure continue and we are not able to preserve it due to air defense. If there is damage that we can restore in two weeks, then this will indicate that we need to hold out for two weeks. If there are other damages, then the repair process may take longer or, on the contrary, less time," explained the head of the UIA.
