There will be no mandatory mobilization of women until 2026

Ukrainian women will not be subject to compulsory mobilization until 2026. The changes concern only the accounting system.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Malyar on the air of the telethon "United News".

"There is no mobilization of women. Now there are changes that concern the accounting system. Until 2026, even Ukrainian women who have a medical specialty - the only one for which they can be subject to mobilization - will not have to be registered. Other professions - only on a voluntary basis," she said.

According to Malyar, currently, about 5 thousand women are at the front voluntarily. At the same time she assured that changes to simplify the conscription system were planned and developed by the General Staff before the full-scale invasion of Russia.

"There is nothing to complicate the situation of reservists, conscripts, people who are registered. It is about simplifying the accounting system," - she said.

As reported, on October 7, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on the voluntary procedure for registering women for military service, which was signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky on October 21.

According to the act, women who are fit for military service for health reasons and age, and who have graduated from vocational, professional higher or higher education institutions and have obtained a medical or pharmaceutical specialty, are subject to military registration.
