Total mobilization is possible in Russia

The Russian Federation is not abandoning its goal of destroying Ukraine as a state and is preparing for a long war. To this end, the Kremlin may launch a total mobilization after the presidential elections in March 2024.

This was stated by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov.

In a speech at the Halifax International Security Forum, the Ukrainian official noted that Russia has been able to adapt to the restrictive measures imposed by Western countries in response to the large-scale military aggression against Ukraine and is constantly investing in its defense sector.

"Russia has proven to be more resilient to Western sanctions than expected. The country's economy is increasingly moving to a military mode. Total mobilization is possible after the 2024 presidential election," Danilov said.

The NSDC Secretary also drew attention to the fact that the presidential elections in Russia on March 17 next year will be a "landmark date" for the Kremlin.

"After the next enthronement of Putin (Russian dictator Vladimir Putin - ed.), the regime will be cemented, in fact, its hands will be tied," he said.

In this context, Danilov added that Ukraine and the international community have 3-4 months to prepare accordingly.
