This was reported by the New York Times, citing a statement by Pentagon spokesman Garron Garn.

Thus, 400 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have begun training in the management and maintenance of tanks at the Grafenwoehr and Goenfels training grounds.

According to the NYT, about 200 soldiers, or about one armored battalion, began receiving general military instruction on May 26. Later, they will begin larger-scale exercises involving battalion-level units that are opposing each other.

The remaining 200 Ukrainian troops have begun training on how to refuel and maintain U.S. tanks, Col. Garn explained.

The training is expected to last 10-12 weeks. In addition, the Pentagon said that Ukraine will not be supplied with tanks that will be used for training in Germany. Combat-ready tanks could be on the battlefield in Ukraine by the fall, according to U.S. officials.
