Trump calls prisoner swap "a victory for Putin"
US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has criticized the prisoner exchange agreement between Russia and the West.
He said this on Friday's episode of Fox Business.
According to Trump, the prisoner exchange was "a victory for Putin or any other country that deals with us."
Speaking about the release of The Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Hershkovich, he admitted that the return of prisoners from Russia was good for the United States, but said that the agreements under which it happened were "very bad."
"This would not have happened with us (i.e., with Trump in power - Ed.). We would have returned him (Gershkovich - Ed.). We would not have had to pay anything. We wouldn't have had to let some of the biggest killers in the world go, because that's exactly what happened, as you know," Trump added.
