According to Austin, Ukraine has encouraged the world, while in the meantime Russia is facing a shortage of ammunition and heavy combat losses. When a free and sovereign Ukraine receives strong support, the Kremlin must beg for help to resupply its few allies. Meanwhile, even Iran and North Korea do not want to acknowledge arms shipments to Russia.

“It's a time to dig deeper. The Ukrainian people are watching us. The Kremlin is watching us and history is watching us. So we won't let up and we won't waver in our determination to help Ukraine defend itself from Russia's imperial aggression," the U.S. Secretary of Defense added.

Responding to a video address by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Austin said that the U.S. would continue to defend the principle that countries' borders cannot be changed by force.

"And we will continue to stand for an open world of rules, rights and responsibilities. Thank you again for being here today," the secretary said.
