The United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on five vessels and two organizations involved in the transportation of Russian LNG, including the Arctic LNG 2 project. These measures are aimed at reducing funding that supports Russia's war against Ukraine.

LNG plays a key role in Russia's economy, being an important source of revenue for the country. In particular, Moscow seeks to increase its share of the global LNG market from 8% to 20%. However, the UK, along with the US and the EU, has previously imposed restrictions on the Arctic LNG 2 project, forcing it to cut production.
The new sanctions target companies and vessels that are actively involved in Russian energy projects that are crucial for future LNG production. In total, the United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on 15 vessels and organizations associated with Russian LNG. Today's measures apply to the following vessels:

Under the UK sanctions legislation, the listed vessels are prohibited from accessing UK ports and may face a number of other restrictions, including arrest and denial of registration.
Sanctions against Russian LNG continue to be an important element of international pressure on Russia in the context of its aggressive actions in Ukraine.
