Ukraine has the potential to become the strongest ally in NATO

Aug 13, 2024

Ukraine could become the strongest ally within the North Atlantic Alliance. In particular, this is due to the presence of rare minerals in its subsoil.

According to an RBC-Ukraine correspondent, this was stated by U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal during his visit to Kyiv.

According to him, Ukraine shows what the future of modern warfare will be like. And now Western countries need to provide Ukrainian defenders with the flexibility they need to win.

"We cannot allow Ukraine to fight with their hands tied by providing them with weapons and then forbidding them to use them in the way they need to win. And the world is watching. From the very beginning. The world is watching Ukraine, but also the United States. China is watching. Iran is watching. All our authoritarian enemies are watching," the senator said.

He reminded that Ukraine has deposits of rare minerals, not only lithium but also titanium ores. Currently, we are dependent on China and other countries in this regard.

"Let's take advantage of Ukraine's resources. Ukraine has the potential to become an economic power as well as a military power. Ukraine has the potential to become our strongest ally in NATO, and that is why we should give it a way forward and, hopefully, an invitation from NATO," Blumenthal added.
