Lithuanian Defense Minister Laurinas Kasciunas commented on the recent operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region, calling it a significant event that undermines Russia's positions and raises the morale of Ukrainian forces.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to LRT.
“First of all, this is probably an attempt to downplay the situation (by the Russian authorities of the success of the Ukrainian military - ed.), although, of course, from a realistic point of view, this is a clear humiliation of Vladimir Putin. The so-called defense lines were obviously not even as they were supposed to be designed, not as they were supposed to be,” the minister said.
Kasciunas emphasized that Russia's so-called defense lines were much weaker than expected.
“Now they have occupied as much territory as they were able to take during last year's counteroffensive, so the numbers are very impressive,” he said.-
Kasciunas also suggested that further developments would depend on the Ukrainians and the fighting. He emphasized that the main victory of this operation was the strengthening of morale, which was much needed.
The minister noted that the situation at the front was becoming increasingly difficult, which prompted talk of negotiations according to the Russian scenario. However, a successful operation by the Ukrainian Armed Forces could significantly strengthen Ukraine's position in possible negotiations.
