The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has signed agreements with defense companies to produce new weapons and attack drones, which will expand the domestic defense industrial base.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
On July 30, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that the Defense Ministry had signed two agreements with domestic military-industrial enterprises worth almost 5 billion hryvnias (about $121 million).
On August 1, the ministry also announced the signing of an agreement worth more than UAH 3.7 billion (about $90 million) with domestic manufacturers to supply the Ukrainian military with ground attack drones.
In addition, ISW notes, the Ukrainian military continues to streamline and simplify mobilization processes to improve the formation of new military units.
Recently, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has developed proposals to simplify mobilization and reduce risks for mobilized personnel. In particular, commanders will be allowed to select and recruit soldiers directly to serve in their brigades, and recruits will be allowed to choose vacant positions in military units.
The report also states that Western partners continue to support Ukraine in building its defense capabilities.
