The United States claimed an extraordinary victory for Ukraine after the withdrawal of Russian troops from Kherson.
Spiegel writes about it.
"It looks like the Ukrainians have just won an extraordinary victory in which the only regional capital captured by Russia in this war is now back under the Ukrainian flag," National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters Saturday while traveling with U.S. President Joe Biden in Cambodia.
Sullivan said the Russian withdrawal has "broader strategic implications."
It involves, among other things, reducing the long-term threat posed by Russia to other southern Ukrainian cities, such as Odesa.
Sullivan said that "this great moment happened because of the incredible tenacity and skill of the Ukrainians." But he also mentioned the U.S. and other countries' support.
