About 100 Ukrainian soldiers have started a training course at the Patriot missile system in the United States.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to CNN.
Referring to the confirmation of the US Department of Defense, the agency reports that "from 90 to 100 Ukrainians" arrived at the military base in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and began training with the Patriot missile system.
"Fort Sill is the base of the Fires Center of Excellence, where the U.S. Army conducts training in the handling of Patriot, including the U.S. military," CNN clarifies.
According to Pentagon officials, training in handling the advanced but complex long-range air defense system usually takes several months. However, it is unclear how much the Ukrainian military will be able to speed up the training program.
"The same instructors who teach the US, allied and partner countries will also conduct Ukrainian training," the base said in a statement.-
At the same time, RBC-Ukraine reported that Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov assured that US representatives promised to teach Ukrainian officers to use Patriot air defense systems in 10 weeks.
