US Vice President Kamala Harris has received enough votes from Democratic Party delegates to receive the nomination for the presidential election.
The announcement was made on Friday, August 2, by Jamie Harrison, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.
During an online event on Friday, Harrison said that "Harris received a majority of votes from all convention delegates and will be nominated as the Democratic Party's candidate after voting ends on Monday."
Harris herself said on Twitter that she was "honored" to be nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate and that she would officially accept the nomination next week.
"This campaign is about people coming together, inspired by the love of our country, to fight for the best of us," Harris added.
