The United States has announced the signing of a $2 billion loan agreement to support Poland's defense modernization.
This is reported with reference to the US State Department.
"Poland is a stalwart U.S. Ally, and Poland’s security is vital to the collective defense of NATO’s Eastern Flank," the statement said.
The department notes that Warsaw plays a central role in facilitating international assistance to Ukraine and strengthens regional security through significant investments in defense spending.
It is worth noting that Poland has abandoned its military equipment of Russian origin in favor of a multibillion-dollar defense modernization program. Polish National Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak has stated that he intends to make the Polish Army the strongest conventional army in Europe with 300,000 soldiers.
Poland ordered Abrams tanks and five hundred HIMARS multiple-launch rocket systems from the United States. The country also signed an agreement to purchase 96 US Apache attack helicopters.
