US to deliver a "crushing blow" to the Russian Black Sea Fleet

Sep 22, 2022

If Russian President Vladimir Putin uses nuclear weapons in Ukraine, the United States will deliver a "crushing blow" to the Russian Black Sea Fleet or Russian bases in Crimea. This was stated by former commander of the U.S. Army in Europe Ben Hodges in an interview with The Daily Mail, UNN reported.

"If there is a threat to the territorial integrity of our country, to protect the people, we will certainly use all means to - and I'm not bluffing. He (Putin - ed.) knows that the United States will have to respond if Russia uses nuclear weapons. The U.S. response may not be nuclear, but it could well be a devastating strike that could, for example, destroy the Black Sea Fleet or Russian bases in Crimea," Hodges said.

General Hodges noted that the likelihood of a nuclear strike by Russia on Ukraine is, in his opinion, "very unlikely". He added that the use of any strategic weapon of mass destruction would be followed by a "swift and firm" response from US President Joe Biden.

"So I think that President Putin and those around him will not want to directly involve the United States in the conflict," Hodges concluded.

On Wednesday, September 21, Putin threatened to use "all available means" to protect Russia.

According to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), the Russian dictator sharply increased the danger of nuclear conflict with his threats.
