Donald Trump's partner in the presidential race, vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance, commenting on the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine, said it was necessary to "bring peace" to the region.

Vance's statement, made during a campaign event in Philadelphia, was cited by Voice of America, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.

According to Vance, "we need to believe in peace and we need to bring peace to this region of the world."

He also said, citing unnamed data, that "Ukrainians lack the military that can fight," and repeated Donald Trump's thesis that Russia would never have invaded Ukraine if he were president.

"And if you want to bring peace to this region, you need a negotiator that Vladimir Putin respects. Is there someone like that here? Obviously, we are among the biased audience now, but does anyone here think that Vladimir Putin respects Kamala Harris? She is afraid of all of you. And she certainly won't be able to sit in an audience with Vladimir Putin and promote an acceptable peace," Vance said.
