On Monday, September 2, Houthis fired on two oil tankers in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Reuters.
According to the agency's sources, the terrorists attacked two oil tankers: “Amjad” under the flag of Saudi Arabia and ‘Blue Lagoon I’ under the flag of Panama. Both vessels belong to Greece.
The ships were sailing alongside each other when they were hit, but were able to continue their voyage without serious damage or casualties.
The Houthis claimed responsibility for the shelling of the Blue Lagoon with missiles and drones, but did not mention the Saudi tanker.
One source said the Amjad was unlikely to have been a direct target of the rebels.
According to the Joint Maritime Information Center, which is run by an international naval force to track Houthi attacks, three ballistic missiles hit the Blue Lagoon I tanker 70 nautical miles northwest of the northern Yemeni port of Salif.
The Center did not rule out that the Blue Lagoon was targeted because other vessels in its company structure had recently called at an Israeli port.
“All the crew on board are safe. The vessel sustained minimal damage, but does not require assistance,” the Center said in a statement.
