Zelensky names five pillars of peace

Jun 22, 2023

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has named five main areas - the foundations for peace in Ukraine, based on unity and democracy. He said this in his address during the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London on Wednesday, June 21.

"I will outline five areas where we have started to create the foundations for peace. The first is the potential for unity. The second is the potential for stability. The third is the potential for growth. The fourth is the potential for security. The fifth is the potential for democracy," the president said.

Zelenskyy noted that a Ukrainian delegation is now in London to present specific things that Kyiv proposes to do together to restore Ukraine after the war.

He emphasized that there is no place in the world where so many objects need to be restored as in Ukraine.

"Every day of Russian aggression means new ruins. Thousands and thousands of destroyed houses, ruined industries and burned lives. Recently, Russia committed the largest ecocide crime in Europe by blowing up the dam and other structures of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant. What does this mean? Ukraine has the largest source of economic, industrial, and technological growth in Europe for decades and decades. And it is not just reconstruction. For example, it is green metallurgy," Zelensky said.

The President emphasized that the restoration of Ukraine means millions of jobs and billions of dollars in profits for companies. Therefore, at this stage, it is important to move on to action - agreements and projects.

As a reminder, an international conference on Ukraine's recovery is currently taking place in London. It will determine the priority and long-term tasks for the post-war reconstruction and modernization of our country.
