Zelenskyy and Sandu discuss joint movement to the EU

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with his Moldovan counterpart Maia Sandu in Kyiv on Friday, the first interaction between the two leaders since their telephone conversation in November 2022.

This was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine.

During the meeting in the Ukrainian capital, Zelenskyy thanked Moldova for its solidarity in the face of Russian aggression and emphasized the further development of friendly and close relations between our countries.

The presidents of Ukraine and Moldova discussed the situation on the frontline and agreed to strengthen cooperation in countering Russia's pressure and further sanctions against it. They paid special attention to the establishment of a special tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.

The leaders also noted the progress in the development of cross-border transport infrastructure and discussed further prospects for the two countries' movement toward European integration.

Separately, Zelenskyy thanked the Moldovan side for the recognition of the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people by the Moldovan parliament.
