Ukraine is against freezing the war. The main condition for starting negotiations with the Russian Federation is the withdrawal of enemy troops to their positions by February 24, 2022.
This was stated by the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Corriere della Sera.
Yermak reminded that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has never spoken of a territorial compromise. The president has always emphasized the need to accept internationally recognized borders.
“However, it is true that he was ready to negotiate (in 2022 - ed.) based on the situation on the eve of the Russian invasion. For us, Crimea and Donbas remain Ukrainian, they are not subject to discussion. We are against freezing the war, we want it to end. We are reassured by the fact that the countries of the Global South also condemn Russia's invasion and seizure of territories by force,” Yermak said.
However, he emphasized that in order to start negotiations, it is necessary to return to the situation that existed before the first shot of the Russian cannon at four o'clock in the morning more than two years ago.
“Then we will talk about how to restore our sovereignty to the 1991 borders,” Yermak emphasized.-
The head of the OP noted that he did not care what Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said about the need to take into account “realities on the ground.”
