Ukraine calls on Vatican to help with prisoner exchange with Russia

Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak had a phone conversation with the head of the Italian Bishops' Conference, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi. The parties discussed the return of Ukrainian children abducted by the Russian Federation and the acceleration of the exchange of prisoners of war.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the website of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

During the conversation, Yermak noted that Ukrainian diplomacy, in dialogue with all countries of the world pays special attention to the return of Ukrainian children illegally deported by Russia.

He thanked Zuppa for his assistance in this matter.

"You also continue to work in this direction. Thank you very much. This process is slow, but it is still moving forward," the head of the Presidential Office said.

Yermak also called for assistance to Kyiv in the process of releasing prisoners of war, including combat medics. During the conversation, the parties discussed options for speeding up this process and organizing an exchange on the eve of Easter.

In addition, the Head of the Presidential Office told the Cardinal about the preparations for the Global Peace Summit to be held in June in Switzerland.

The parties also discussed the possibility of holding a bilateral meeting to join forces.
