The war in Ukraine, according to the expert, strengthened the relationship between Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and North Korean Kim Jong Un.

"The conflict in Ukraine has been a real success for North Korea. After several years of severe trials that have befallen the fate of ordinary North Koreans during the coronavirus pandemic, Kim Jong-un seems to intend to use some profits to improve living standards and expand the industrial base." Peter Ward, a scientist at the analytical center Sejong Institute in Seoul, told the source.

North Korea's economy depends on coal mining, concrete production, and industrial plastics, kept afloat by food, fuel, and fertilizer from neighboring China.

The exact state of North Korea's economy cannot be assessed due to the lack of reliable official data.
