Estonia will limit the operation of crossing points on the RF border

Estonia intends to reduce the working hours of the Koidula border crossing point on the border with Russia and not operate it at night. Previously, the same decision was made regarding the Narva-1 checkpoint.

This was announced by Estonian Finance Minister Mart Virklaev, RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to ERR.

According to the Minister of Finance, the decision to limit the operation of the border checkpoint has two reasons - sanctions and the economy.

"First, more effective enforcement of sanctions. Traffic flows have decreased, and we should not keep the border with the Russian Federation open at night. Second, of course, there is a certain economy here. Yes, since we are talking only about the night mode of operation, then it is small, but if it is no longer reasonable to keep the border open all the time, then any economy is approved," Virklaev added.

Earlier, it became known that from May 1, the border crossing in Narva will not work 24/7, but from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. every day. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Estonia previously noted that the Koidula and Luhamaa border crossings will continue to operate around the clock.

No sanctions will work as long as the borders with Russia are open and as long as Russian goods continue to flow into Europe.
