This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the statement of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an evening video address.

"We are also preparing for the NATO summit, which will take place this summer. We need a strong political signal - the Alliance should not be afraid of its own strength and hide from its own foundations. Every country that shares common values and is ready to really defend them deserves an invitation to the Alliance," the president emphasized.

It should be noted that this year's NATO summit is scheduled for the period from July 9 to 11. The summit, which is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the creation of NATO, will take place in Washington. The United States expressed its expectation that a NATO decision on long-term support for Ukraine would be made at this summit.

After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Ukraine applied to join NATO. At the same time, Kyiv demanded an accelerated accession procedure without the so-called Action Plan on NATO membership. That is, Ukraine wants to become a member of the alliance without any preconditions.

At that year's summit in Lithuania, NATO countries promised that Ukraine would definitely become a member of NATO immediately after the end of the war. However, Kyiv wants to receive an official invitation, which would be a guarantee of joining the alliance.
