Pilots and ground crews are preparing to use F-16s in Ukraine. The planes will arrive from Denmark this summer.

Danish Ambassador to Kyiv Ole Egberg Mikkelsen said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

"I'm not very familiar with the technical details, but I can quote my Prime Minister (Mette Frederiksen – ed.), who was recently in Ukraine, in Lviv, and she was asked the same question, and she said that the planes will arrive this summer. She did not specify what month. I can only refer to what she said," the ambassador said.

He noted the complexity of this issue, as it is not only about the aircraft, it is only one component. There is also a whole system of support, maintenance, ground crews that monitor the aircraft's serviceability.

"This is a huge task, and I had the honor to meet with some Ukrainian pilots at an air base in Denmark last August when your president came to Denmark," Mikkelsen said.

According to him, the pilots and ground crews are very eager to start using the aircraft.

"So, I'm optimistic, I'm sure they will arrive soon and hopefully will be ready for use soon," the ambassador added.

As a reminder, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said in February that the F-16 fighter jets being donated by Denmark would appear in Ukrainian skies in the summer of 2024.
