This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Bild.

The publication writes that Germany has provided Kyiv with 7.1 billion euros in military aid this year. The amount is used to pay for military goods that Ukraine buys directly from industry. The funds will also be used to finance reorders of weapons that the Bundeswehr has transferred to the Ukrainian army.

However, Ukraine urgently requires more support for effective defense against Russian invaders.

According to Bild, the Defense Ministry has notified the government of an additional need for 3.8 billion euros to help Ukraine for the current fiscal year.

On Wednesday, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius discussed the issue with Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

The extra spending is to be submitted for parliamentary approval in June. This includes counter-financing.

The Ministry of Finance, according to the newspaper, approved this proposal of the defense ministry.

In addition, Bild's sources said that the Defense Ministry has budgeted a record amount of 15 billion euros for 2025 to help Ukraine.
