On July 30, the special representatives for the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey, Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Ruben Rubinian, and former Turkish Ambassador to the United States Serdar Kilic held the fifth meeting on the Margara-Alikan crossing on the border of the two countries.
According to Yevropeiska Pravda, this was reported by the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
The meeting took place at the renovated Margara checkpoint. Turkish media wrote about the possible opening of this checkpoint - first for third-country nationals, and then for everyone.
Representatives of Armenia and Turkey confirmed the agreements reached during previous meetings.
In addition, they agreed to assess the technical requirements to ensure the functioning of the Ahurik/Akyaka rail border crossing in accordance with regional changes, as well as to simplify mutual visa procedures for holders of diplomatic/official passports.
“Finally, they reiterated their agreement to continue the normalization process without any preconditions in order to achieve the ultimate goal of full normalization of relations between their countries,” the Armenian Foreign Ministry said.
