After more than 1,000 days of fierce fighting, the US elections are becoming a turning point for Ukraine. And regardless of the results, aid to the country may be reduced.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Bloomberg.
Officials in Kyiv and Europe are concerned that Donald Trump's victory could lead to Ukraine being forced to resort to a painful war settlement that would allow Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to consolidate his power in the country.
And while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has vowed to continue the fight, the harsh reality is that Ukraine's depleted military is heavily dependent on U.S. aid. In particular, some of Ukraine's allies have already started talking about how the war could end.
If Trump, who has said he will “settle” the conflict before taking office and follows through on his threats to cut off aid, wins, Ukraine's options will be sharply reduced.
