Azerbaijan says it is "on the verge of peace" with Armenia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has announced the possibility of signing a peace agreement with Armenia in the near future.

This was stated by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.

According to him, Azerbaijan is actively working to ensure a lasting peace with Armenia.

The Minister spoke about the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and also voiced Baku's position on the current stage of bilateral negotiations.

"With the end of the nearly thirty-year armed conflict and the commitments to respect each other's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and inviolability of borders made by the two countries for the first time since the restoration of their independence, they are on the verge of peace," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

According to Bayramov, the talks held in Washington, Brussels, Moscow, and Chisinau over the past few weeks have made it possible to better understand the positions of the parties.
