Belgium and Ukraine have signed an agreement that launches cooperation in the field of reconstruction and provides for investments of about 150 million euros over four years.
According to Yevropeiska Pravda, this was reported by the Belgian Le Soir; government press services have not yet reported this.
On July 17, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Kroo, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, and Belgian Minister for International Cooperation Caroline Henne signed a cooperation agreement during a video-link ceremony that provides for investments in Ukraine's recovery worth €150 million over four years.
The agreement allows the Belgian cooperation agency Enabel to contribute to the reconstruction of the affected regions of Ukraine. The main activities are planned in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, where Caroline Henne visited in February this year to familiarize herself with the situation.
The cooperation includes restoration of critical infrastructure and arrangement of comfortable shelters in schools.
The first tranche of €20 million will be spent on decentralized energy installations in Kyiv and its suburbs before the next winter, with a focus on hospitals. Belgium will also support the installation of generators and solar panels in medical facilities and schools.
