US President Joe Biden's campaign headquarters has changed its election strategy after an assassination attempt on Republican rival Donald Trump.
This is reported by Yevropeiska Pravda with reference to Reuters.
In particular, Biden's headquarters decided to abandon verbal attacks on the former president and focus on a message of unity.
Within hours of Saturday's shooting, Biden's campaign pulled television ads and suspended other political communications, including those covering Trump's May guilty plea to a felony in a New York state court related to hush money payments to a porn star to prevent a sex scandal ahead of the 2016 US election.
A spokesman for Biden's campaign said that the incumbent president would give an interview to NBC News on Monday.
After that, the Democratic National Committee and the campaign "will continue throughout the week to contrast our positive vision for the future with the retrospective agenda of Trump and the Republicans," the Biden campaign official said.
Another campaign official said that Democratic National Committee Chairman Jamie Harrison had called Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Wheatley to offer help and try to lower the political temperature.
"This (the assassination attempt on Trump - Ed.) changes everything. We are still assessing. It will be much harder to bring charges against Trump...The president is trying to lower the temperature," the Biden campaign official added.
