U.S. President Joe Biden said he is not ready to talk to Russian leader Vladimir Putin until he changes his behavior.
According to Yevropeiska Pravda, he said this at a press conference after the NATO summit in Washington.
Biden said he did not see Putin's readiness to change his behavior.
"I see no reason to talk to Putin right now. There's not much he's willing to do in terms of changing his behavior. But there is no world leader with whom I am not willing to engage," Biden said.
"But is Putin ready to talk? I'm not ready to talk to Putin until he changes his behavior," the US president emphasized.-
He said Putin has a problem. "He thought he had won the war, but he still seized 17.3% of Ukraine's territory. They have not succeeded, they have suffered terrible human losses. They lost more than 350,000 soldiers, killed or wounded. More than a million educated young people left Russia," he listed.-
According to him, the idea that Russia will change fundamentally in the near future is unrealistic. Biden also added that Russia will not stop at Ukraine and recalled Putin's speech before the invasion.
The American president reiterated that he is ready to talk to any leader, including Putin, and if Putin wants to talk, "call me."
