Russian troops have had many months to build up their defense, so the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is "difficult".
This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Voice of America reports.
According to him, the offensive is "difficult," but the Defense Forces have already made real progress.
Blinken noted that Ukraine has already regained more than 50% of the territory that Russia has seized since the beginning of the full-scale war.
"Now they are waging an offensive in the south and east. It's a difficult offensive, and there's a good reason for that - the Russians have had many months to build up their defenses, but the Ukrainians are making real progress," the US Secretary of State said.
Blinken emphasized that Ukrainian soldiers are fighting for their freedom and country, and therefore this fact "will eventually change the balance".
