China and Russia pose a “deadly” threat to Britain and NATO as a whole.
This was stated by George Robertson, the head of the Strategic Defense Review of Britain, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Bloomberg.
“We are facing a deadly quartet of countries that are increasingly working together,” he said.
According to him, Russia, China, Iran and North Korea are deadly threats to the UK.
Robertson's statements are of great importance, as the review conducted under his leadership will set the course for the defense policy of the new Labor government. According to the UK Ministry of Defense, the document will be published in early 2025 and will present an action plan to achieve the goal set by Prime Minister Keir Starmer of allocating 2.5% of GDP to defense.
Robertson, who headed NATO from 1999 to 2003 and previously served as defense secretary under Tony Blair, will lead the new government's defense review alongside former US presidential adviser and Russia expert Fiona Hill and Richard Burrons, former commander of the UK's Joint Forces Command, its strategic command center.
