Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday that Turkey may intervene in the situation in Israel, as it did in the past in Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh.
Erdogan's statement was cited by Reuters, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.
Erdogan, a fierce critic of Israel's offensive in the Gaza Strip, touched on the topic while praising Turkey's defense industry.
“We have to be very strong so that Israel cannot do these senseless things to Palestine. Just as we entered Karabakh, just as we entered Libya, we can do the same to them,” Erdogan said at a meeting of his Justice and Development Party in his hometown of Rize.
“There is no reason why we can't do it... We must be strong to take these steps,” Erdogan added.-
It seems that President Erdogan was referring to Turkey's past actions. In 2020, Turkey sent troops to Libya in support of the UN-recognized Libyan National Unity Government.
