Erdogan won the elections in Turkey

The current President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan will remain at the head of the country for another presidential term.

According to both the state agency Anadolu and the opposition ANKA, Erdoğan beat his rival, opposition leader Kemal Kiicdaroglu, in the second round of elections.

According to the state agency Anadolu, after 97.12% of the ballot boxes were opened, Erdoğan received 52.21% support, while Kılıçdaroğlu had 47.79%.

According to ANKA after the opening of 96.46% of ballot boxes, Erdogan led with 51.78% and Kılıçdaroğlu had 48.22%. The opposition agency initially reported that Kılıçdaroğlu was ahead, but it favored Erdoğan as the counting came to a close.

Turkey's CEC publishes official data somewhat later than news agencies. Turkey's CEC chairman said Erdogan was leading in the presidential race with 54.5 percent after 54 percent of the votes were counted. Kılıçdaroğlu has 45.5%.

Erdoğan beat Kılıçdaroğlu by nearly 5 percentage points in the first round of elections two weeks ago.
