Georgian government announces amount spent to help Ukraine

Jun 5, 2023

The Georgian government says it spent about 38 million GEL (about $14.5 million) in 2022 to support Ukraine and Ukrainian citizens in the country.

This is stated in a government report presented to the Georgian parliament, Georgia Online Reports.

As noted in the document, "Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale military aggression in Ukraine, Georgia has resolutely continued to support Ukraine in the political, diplomatic, and humanitarian spheres".

The government reports that more than 26,000 Ukrainians in Georgia have received support through various social and educational programs.

As a reminder, in May, Georgia, which did not support sanctions against Russia in connection with the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, resumed direct flights with Russia.
