The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany will provide Ukraine with 10 million euros to restore the Okhmatdyt children's hospital, which was destroyed by a Russian missile strike.
According to Yevropeiska Pravda, the head of the ministry, Svenja Schulze, said this in an interview with the Rheinische Post.
These funds will be used together with the funds of other sponsors and donors to restore the hospital and prepare it for the winter.
This includes repairing and maintaining the hospital's facades, treatment rooms, and electricity and heating systems.
“The destruction of the children's hospital shows how ruthlessly and inhumanely Russia is waging this war of aggression... We must not and will not accept that this place of treatment for children with cancer no longer exists in Ukraine. We have offered the Ukrainian government support in reconstructing the hospital so that children can once again receive the treatment they need quickly,” the minister said.
Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Oleksiy Makeyev said that since February 2022, Russia has completely destroyed more than 210 medical facilities in Ukraine and seriously damaged more than 1,600.
He expressed gratitude for the numerous offers of assistance from Germany after the Russian attacks.
“I thank everyone for this - it is much more than abstract condolences. In order to deal with the consequences of Russian terror, we must immediately start rebuilding. Germany has once again provided us with concrete assistance. By allocating 10 million euros, our German partners have once again demonstrated leadership,” the Ukrainian diplomat emphasized.-
