Greece, Bulgaria, and Romania have decided to create a coordinated military mobility corridor.
This was stated by Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing his Twitter post.
"Together with my Bulgarian and Romanian colleagues Atanas Zapryanov and Angel Tilver, respectively, we signed a letter of intent on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Washington today to establish a Harmonized Military Mobility Corridor," he said.
According to him, a trilateral meeting will be held in Alexandroupolis (Greece) in the fall to discuss the implementation of the planned actions.
According to Kathimerini, the military corridor will run through NATO's eastern wing.
The plan envisages connecting four ports and their respective infrastructures and networks. The corridor will connect Thessaloniki and Alexandroupolis with Varna in Bulgaria and Constanta in Romania, four strategically important cities for NATO due to their proximity to NATO's eastern borders.
The agreement will enable troops to move from place to place in Europe and beyond and cross border points seamlessly in the course of their mission, significantly reducing the time and bureaucracy currently required.
