Grossi re-elected as IAEA Director General

Rafael Mariano Grossi has been reappointed as Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)

At the IAEA conference in Vienna on Monday, September 25, Grossi's candidacy was unanimously supported by all participants.

"I am honored by the unanimous decision of the Board to appoint me for another term in office, and I am very grateful for the trust. This comes at a time when we are facing many serious challenges, and I am fully committed to continuing to do my best to fulfill the IAEA's important mission in support of global peace and development," said Grossi.

He first took office as IAEA Director General on December 2, 2019. His second term will begin on December 3 this year and will last until December 2, 2027. He is the sixth Director General since the IAEA was founded in 1957.
