At a meeting in Brussels on Monday, July 22, EU foreign ministers once again failed to agree on unblocking the European Peace Fund, which finances arms supplies to Ukraine.
This was confirmed at a press conference by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, according to Yevropeiska Pravda.
According to Borrell, at a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, ministers discussed the need to strengthen support for Ukraine, especially in view of Russia's recent attacks against hospitals.
Among other things, the discussion concerned unblocking the European Peace Fund, which compensates EU countries for military aid to Ukraine.
“The majority of member states insisted on the need to lift the blocking of payments that have been delayed for months or a year. At the same time, they emphasized the need to move forward with a decision on a new fund to support Ukraine, which has been blocked by one member state for more than a year,” Borrell stated.
“This member state insisted that this is something unacceptable, intolerable, and unfortunately, the blocking situation persists,” he added.
