Bogatyuk's direct speech: “In total, since the beginning of the register's work, information about more than 51 thousand people who were considered missing under special circumstances has been entered into it. At the moment, this figure includes people who are still wanted. We currently have about 42 thousand of them.”
Details: According to the law enforcement officer, the Ministry of Internal Affairs also has data on about 7,000 people for whom information has already been established. Of these, 3,000 are known to be “alive and well” and their whereabouts have been established. Most of them are former prisoners of war.
“As of today, we have about 4 thousand identified bodies. The vast majority of them are our defenders who were considered missing, but later... were identified,” Bogatyuk said.-
The Interior Ministry representative added that more than 90% of proceedings on missing persons are investigated by the National Police, and it often happens that a person is considered missing under special circumstances, and later his or her capture is confirmed.
As you know, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the holder and maintains the Unified Register of Persons Missing in Special Circumstances.
