During her visit to China on Monday, July 29, Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni held talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, which also touched on Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
This was reported by the press service of the Italian government.
It is noted that Meloni and Xi “shared the positive development of relations between Italy and China” and emphasized the importance of “balanced, mutually beneficial cooperation based on mutual trust.”
The talks focused on bilateral relations and priority issues on the international agenda, “from the war in Ukraine to the risks of further escalation in the Middle East,” Meloni's press service added.
At the meeting, the Italian prime minister noted that tensions are growing in the world, and “China is inevitably a very important interlocutor to deal with all these events,” and called for a joint discussion “on how to ensure stability and peace.”
