According to Ukrinform, this was reported by The Asahi Shimbun.

"The government has issued instructions for the construction of underground shelters on the remote islands of Okinawa Prefecture in the event of a military crisis involving Taiwan," the report says.

The country's population is being prepared to stay in shelters for up to 2 weeks. The government's recommendations, published on March 29, state that shelters will be built in five municipalities: Ishigaki, Miyakojima, Yonaguni, Taketomi, and Tarama. These municipalities are located on remote islands from which evacuation is possible only by air or ship. All municipalities have drawn up evacuation plans in the event of a military conflict, and shelters will be available for those who cannot leave in time.

At the same time, the leaders of some municipalities located further away from the zone of possible conflict complain that preparations for military action allegedly put the Japanese at greater risk of being attacked if China follows through on its threats and attacks Taiwan.
