Wounded Russian soldiers are sent back to the line of fire during "meat assaults". The Ukrainian army reports the capture of Russians who are already suffering from wounds sustained in previous attacks.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to The Telegraph.
Russian occupants are provided with minimal medical care before being sent back into battle. This tactic shows a clear disregard for infantrymen, as Russian commanders throw thousands of people to the front line in a slow and grueling summer offensive.
Some Russians were captured as they returned to the battlefield on crutches.
Some wounded invaders recorded a video in which they pleaded with their superiors for proper treatment as they were ordered back into battle. One soldier who was taken prisoner by Ukrainian forces was driving an armored personnel carrier with bloody rags over his wounded eye.
Meat assault units often consist of infantrymen, released prisoners, and cripples. Many of them are simply protecting the next wave of soldiers as part of a tactic aimed at distracting and overwhelming Ukraine, as well as gradually gaining territory.
Ukrainian soldiers said that it is "normal practice" to see wounded soldiers staggering during combat, and that Ukrainian prisoners of war are being used by Russia as human shields.
