Latvia has reported that the fence on the Latvian-Belarusian border, which is almost 145 kilometers long, has been completed.
This was reported by LSM.
Actually, the construction of the fence on land sections with a total length of 112 km was completed last year, and this year construction continued on water sections.
The contractor will continue to work on the necessary accompanying infrastructure and solutions for two sections - on the Daugava River and Lake Richu - where the fence is not envisaged.
In the land areas where the fence was installed last year, the construction of infrastructure will continue. In particular, roads for patrolling by light vehicles (approximately 40 km) and patrol bridges-trails (15 km) are being built. The construction of a 1.75 km long pontoon patrol trail has been completed. All this will allow border guards to get to the right place and control what is happening at the border.
